Centre for Sustainable Development

Est 2000 - home of the MPhil in Engineering for Sustainable Development

As a crucial part of considering sustainable development, the needs of developing countries and fragile states have to be viewed very differently from the challenges faced by more developed and wealthy countries. The Centre has always had a strand of research that tackles development where essential infrastructure is absent or inadequate, and where the approach to sustainability needs to be cast in a different light. Current research in Afghanistan, India, Kenya, Turkey and China builds on previous work in many developing countries.
