Brad Hiller is a graduate of the Centre, having completed his Master’s degree in 2007/08 before directly continuing on to PhD studies to research the temporal and spatial sustainability of large-scale integrated ecosystem rehabilitation and poverty reduction programs utilising watersheds as management units.

Brad is a member of Pembroke College.

Prior to joining the Centre’s MPhil in Engineering for Sustainable Development as a Chevening Scholar in 2007/08, Brad had undergraduate qualifications in Engineering (Environmental) and Science (Land & Water Management) from his native Australia.  Brad had also accumulated 7 years of professional experience in a range of sectors including international development, water services and resource infrastructure.  His vocational pursuits saw him work in locations as varied as Mongolia, China, Nepal and outback Australia with organisations including the Australian Agency for International Development, United Nations Development Program and Engineers Without Borders.  He completed his Masters study in 2008, with a research dissertation investigating the potential of geothermal energy as a sustainable source to promote improved electrification in East Africa.

Following his Masters, Brad was fortunate to be awarded partial scholarships from Pembroke College and the Cambridge Trusts to facilitate his PhD studies.
