Annabel Yadoo is a graduate of the University of Cambridge and joined the Centre in October 2008 to research the delivery models for off-grid rural electrification projects in developing countries.

Annabel Yadoo graduated with a First Class degree in Modern and Medieval Languages (German and Spanish) from the University of Cambridge in 2005. She then spent a number of months working as an English language teacher in India and Nepal, before commencing the MPhil in Development Studies in 2006. This Masters programme provided her with a solid introduction to social science research and she took papers ranging from Development Economics to Sociology, Politics and Anthropology.
Annabel graduated from the MPhil with Distinction in 2007 and went on to work for the international NGO Practical Action in Peru as a research intern in their Energy and Basic Infrastructure Programme. Her research focussed on the Productive Uses of Electricity in Rural Peru. Following the internship, Annabel conducted two more research studies for Practical Action, this time in the role of consultant: the first was on the Impact of Electricity on Rural Health and Education and the second concerned the Targeting of Government Energy Subsidies for the Poor.
Annabel was awarded a UK Energy Research Centre Interdisciplinary Studentship and commenced her PhD at the Centre for Sustainable Development in October 2008. Her research examines the delivery models for off-grid rural electrification projects in developing countries.
