Shagun Garg is a PhD student at the University of Cambridge FIBE2 CDT, supervised by Dr Sivasakthy Selvakumaran and Dr Edoardo Borgomeo. Shagun studies how nature-based solutions (NBS) like ponds, lakes, wetlands, and river restoration can be tracked and evaluated through remote sensing. By applying Earth observation techniques, he assesses the impact of NBS interventions on mitigating environmental risks. Prior to this, Shagun applied satellite data to monitor floods, landslides, and land subsidence, including measuring ground deformation at millimeter-level precision.

Shagun holds a Masters (MRes) from the University of Cambridge, and a Masters in remote sensing from IIT Bombay, India and Leibniz University Hannover, Germany. His work is supported by various fellowships and scholarships.
