Energy Efficiency in Buildings

Research funding from Kingspan Insulation Ltd.

Kingspan Insulation Ltd has since 2015 provided a substantial donation for research activity in energy efficiency in buildings. Professor Peter Guthrie, who leads the work said that the funding has been a significant and generous donation from a single company interested in the industry-wide challenges of thermal performance.  The programme has supported the investigation of new energy efficient technologies and approaches to improve the comfort, health and safety of building occupants. In particular the work has included validation of standard calculation methods, as well as laboratory and field experimentation on the actual performance of thermal insulation for solid wall domestic properties. The funding has covered a three year period until the end of 2018, although the completion of the research projects will extend into 2019.

Kingspan Insulation Ltd is part of the global company Kingspan Group plc, one of Europe’s fastest growing building materials manufacturers. Kingspan Insulation Ltd is a market leading manufacturer of premium and high performance rigid insulation products and insulated systems for building fabric and building services applications.
