Amy has worked as a Civil Engineer in both project management and technical management roles on major infrastructure projects since 2013. She has held positions at Crossrail and Bechtel in structural, tunnelling and rail disciplines, including her most recent role as Technical Delivery Manager at Crossrail’s Whitechapel station, entailing programme and delivery strategy.

Her interest in engineering's aptitude for development has evolved throughout her career, leading to her Masters degree in Engineering for International Development which she completed in 2019 at UCL. Throughout this she focused on the relationship between WASH and stunting in children under 5 years in sub-Saharan Africa, and continues to be interested in this subject.

Research interests

Amy’s PhD explores infrastructure as a facilitator to deliver services required to meet the needs of the poor in developing countries. Her research looks at determining and prioritising need; physical, service and social forms of infrastructure; and the surrounding enabling environment including the political economy, social dimensions and the natural environment. Her aim is to understand the relationships between these factors and their role in the success or failure of infrastructure projects in developing countries, and to identify opportunities for intervention to optimally design and implement future projects to meet contextual needs.
