We are delighted to announce that Dr Kristen MacAskill has been recognised as one of 2021’s top 50 Women in Engineering.

Founded by the Women's Engineering Society in 2016, the WE50 awards are a UK event linked to International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) – a celebration of women in engineering that takes place on 23 June each year.

Dr MacAskill was selected from a field of over 230 nominees, with Head Judge Professor Catherine Noakes (OBE CEng FIMechE FIHEEM) noting that only exceptional candidates were selected for the final 50.

On receiving the award, Dr MacAskill noted that:

“My hope is that engineers will play a more prominent role in shaping the world's future. This means not just designing because we can, but because we understand our communities and they understand what we can do. Our technical skills are absolutely a critical foundation, but we need to be more than that.”
